PROJECT OVERVIEW
This project was part of my studies in Transportation Design degree at the University of Quebec in Montréal (UQAM). The aim was to design an intermediate-sized electric vehicle to satisfy a need related to the Montreal environment.
This project was part of my studies in Transportation Design degree at the University of Quebec in Montréal (UQAM). The aim was to design an intermediate-sized electric vehicle to satisfy a need related to the Montreal environment.
SUBJECT
Montreal is buzzing of scooters, bikes, skateboards and many other new individual electric vehicles. However, very few people use them in winter.
Why? Because there's no vehicle designed to conquer the harsh Canadian winter.

STUDY PROCESS
The first step was to study the micromobility market and Montreal's winter reality, in order to identify where this vehicle could be used and the constraints associated with it. This led me to the 250 kilometers of bike paths unused in winter, which make them effective for riding and having fun.
The second step was to contact micromobility professionals in Montreal, to meet their customers and analyze their uses. This enable me to clarify the needs of the target users.
The third and final step was to study the regulations and existing products that matched the established conclusions. This research helped me to set design objectives and begin the ideation phase.
Design a KTM 2-wheeler, recreational, safe, efficient AND adapted for winter conditions
Developed for anyone who wants to enjoy an individual winter means of transportation, the new KTM E-CW is for you ; fun, efficient and safe.
Its spherical wheel inspired by Goodyear's technology offers a large contact surface, an intelligent stabilization and a 360 turning radius : the perfect 2 wheeler for city, compact and easy to ride, even for beginner riders.
Incorporating a new shock absorber, this bike comes to life by adjusting the seating position during driving, from hyper-sporty to off-road, according to your riding style and your desires: enjoy a unique experience, combining ergonomics and thrills.
Many other features have been designed to meet the needs of target users, such as fairings to protect hands and feet from the cold, or a rear wheel motor for perfect weight distribution in winter conditions: see the final concept below.
